2022 Summer Reading Challenge Results

We’re pleased to announce the winners of our first-ever 2022 SIMC Summer Reading Challenge! It was a pleasure and an honor to read all of your mathematical and personal reflections; we hope you enjoyed the summer reading. And without further ado, our winners are:
Gold Winner: Samarth Das (Heritage High School), who read Infinite Powers: How Calculus Reveals the Secrets of the Universe Silver Winner:Jason Yao (Odle Middle School), who read Fermat’s Enigma: The Epic Quest to Solve the World’s Greatest Mathematical Problem
Our committee was impressed by Samarth’s writing on how the concept of infinity has shaped the world from ancient to modern times, as well as Jason’s reflection on his understanding of the perfect rigor of mathematical proofs. Congratulations to Samarth and Jason for their outstanding reflections! We will be getting in touch with the winners regarding prizes.
