SIMC lectures
As part of our mission to increase math literacy, we hold monthly lectures about a wide array of math topics. Our first installment of the 2022-23 season will take place this October and be given by SLG member William Y. Feng. See below for more details!
February 2023 lecture

SIMC will be hosting an AIME Strategy seminar from 2:30-3:10 PM Pacific Time on Saturday, February 4th over Zoom, given by student leader Rohan Dhillon! He will cover primarily early to mid-level AIME questions, with emphasis on techniques and execution rather than “just solving problems.”

Imagine this somewhat-contrived scenario: Alice and Bob are in a bustling cafe and want to send secret mischievous messages to each other. The catch? They can only communicate by yelling at each other across the room, so everyone can hear what they’re saying. Though this may seem impossible, there exists a very clever protocol that allows Alice and Bob to achieve their very peculiar goal.
Along the way, we’ll learn how I did cool stuff like take an image of me:
